Census data are out! See CensusScope 2010 to see results!
Sponsored by the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research and Office of the Provost, the contest challenged U-M community members to create video ads to promote participation of University students in the 2010 Census.
Census Day is April 1, 2010. Student participation is vital.
Video ads emphasize that students who live on campus are responsible for filling out their own census forms, and that all people living in a household should be counted on the form. They also focus on the ease of filling out the form, the anonymity of responses, and the inclusion of non-citizens in the count. Finally, many of the ads address the civic benefits of an accurate census.
All qualifying video ad entries were posted for popular vote and the five top vote getters received prizes. In addition, a critics’ choice received a prize.
The winning ads received a total of $3000 in cash awards and are used on campus to promote participation in the 2010 Census.
